What is iFonte?

This is a web platform provided by the canton of Ticino for the electronic transmission of withholding tax statements.

Use of this platform has been mandatory since January 1, 2022.

The prerequisite for iFonte is Swissdec 4. or a newer version. No installation is required, as access is via a browser. A control number and password must be requested from the withholding tax office of the canton of Ticino. If no registration number exists yet, the employer must first request one. Unlike other cantons, it is necessary to confirm the data transmitted by ELM/Swissdec on the iFonte platform as follows: The data transmitted via ELM must be approved on iFonte on a quarterly basis and can then only be changed on the annual statement. After each quarterly transmission, the amount of withholding tax determined is transferred to the tax office using a payment slip by the 10th of the following month.
