Daily Rate for Salary Types

Salary types can be calculated not only using the hourly wage rate, but also using the daily salary rate.

There is the Daily rate for salary types selection field under ‘Settings’ in Payroll Setup. In this selection field determine whether the daily rate should be calculated for 360/365 or 261 days

days. This setting is thus decisive for all salary types.

In salary types, tab “General” you can find 3 fields:

Salary Rate

Options:

- blank (empty)

This choice corresponds to the previous function, NO check mark.
The wage type will be recorded WITHOUT hourly or daily rate (e.g., reporting wage types, mileage allowances, expenses, etc.)

- Salary rate

This choice corresponds to the previous check mark. During the update process, all wage types which had a box checked until now will be defined as Salary rate.

This choice will be used for wage types in which the number of hours x hourly wage rate (e.g., hourly wage, overtime/flexitime/holiday pay, etc.) should be always estimated.

- Daily rate

The actual change refers to the new choice Daily rate. Instead of the hourly rate approach, the daily wage rate will be calculated and used in the reporting. The calculation is done either via 360/365 or 261 days (see above).

The calculation of the daily rate is as follows:
Hourly wage rate / Monthly items x 12 / 360 or 365 or 261 days = daily wage rate

Example of an hourly wage rate of CHF 23.60 and 176h per month:

CHF 23.60 x 176h x 12 / 360 days = CHF 138.45

Rate per Employment %

Should the daily wage rate take percents by position into account?

You can set up this function individually for each wage type. Once you check the box in the Rate per percents by position field, the daily wage rate will be reduced accordingly.

Example of an hourly wage rate of CHF 23.60, 176h per month and 50% by position:

CHF 23.60 x 176h x 12 / 360 days x 50% = CHF 69.225

Rate incl. 13th/14th Payday

Should 13th and possibly 14th wage also be taken into account while calcu-lating daily wage rate?

Once you check the box in field Rate incl. 13th/14th monthly wage, SwissSal-ary takes into account the corresponding settings in the personnel card in the Refunding of absences field. Of course, for those employees who have no enti-tlement to the 14th wage, the daily wage rate will not be calculated for the 14th time.

Example of an hourly wage rate of CHF 23.60, 176h per month and a 13th wage entitlement:

CHF 23.60 x 176h x 13 / 360 days = CHF 149.982
